Gaps in available information on biological resources are always among the biggest sources of uncertainty for regional conservation plans. Because comprehensive survey coverage is not feasible for most species, habitat suitability models are being developed for many of the 39 preliminary covered species. These models are being developed based on known habitat requirements for the covered species and peer-reviewed literature.
The habitat models below are in administrative draft form and are still being reviewed and refined by the Steering and Stakeholder Committeees, Wildlife Agencies, and various local and regional experts in particular species and habitat associations. The models will also be reviewed by the independent Science Advisory Panel when they review the admin. draft Conservation Strategy chapter in late spring 2008. Public draft habitat models will be released in early-mid 2009 when the public draft HCP/NCCP document is released and may be substantially revised from the admin. draft versions presented below.
